ON THE V O I D

wonderer: why do you wander?
wanderer: i can never settle, there is too much to conquer.

THE GOLDEN DAYS OF PAST HAVE BURNT BEYOND THE HILLSIDE HORIZON
+ + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + +

she roams inside an impenetrable turtle shell always
as he follows holding a key which fits into nothing

INSIDE THE HEART OF A POET
(the vacated room of Tom Blood)
+ + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + +

a lonely room at night
with four butterscotch walls
that illuminate in daylight

one lone piece
left hanging:
a framed photo
of an unknown desert

beneath either window,
a desk. an orange seat.
plastic insanity. wooden
heart of eternal weathered
romance

a tiny sun trapped in a bird-
cage by the door
casting the shadow of death
across an imperfect sky
it sits atop of

HE HAS A THING FOR BLONDES, I THINK
+ + + + + + + + + + + + ++ + + + + + + +

they light a fire
somewhere inside him
and he can't find
where
to put it out

instead
it eats his insides
and burns the walls
of his being,

as he opens his mouth
putting smoke in the air

TREPIDATION OF SPHERES
+ + + + + + + + + + + + + +

she
gravitates towards me
through streams of salt
and an astral belt
of coarse crystalline

we look at each other
in crooked mirrors
(those wild eyes)
laying in a bed of sugar
drunk off candy, soda,
toothing the flesh
from pale necks

and we fall

asleep, I encasing her
under an open window
on a white mattress
afloat a black sea

-

an eye twitches
and somewhere in the sky
jupiter and saturn

s h u d d e r

turning away
from one
another.

O N T H E V O I D
+ + + + + + + + + + +

can you be on top of a void?
she wonders, far from me

and i reminisce of october skin
sticking in the autumn sweat of a bushwick apartment
and in the heat of that dark room i fell into her
sinking
into nothingness

sometime later she'd say to me,
everything and nothing dichotomies
would get me
nowhere
and since then
i've been fleeing reality
only hoping to approach
infinity

NEVER SAY NEVER
+ + + + + + + + + +

from one greek-named city to the next
what i really need to do
is put an entire ocean between us

and even then
you'd still find a way
to get to me

you could whisper in my ear
and dry up all of the atlantic.

DIDN'T YOU KNOW IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD
+ + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + +

she silenced the universe,
eyes closed, with a gasp

the star growing in my skull is dying
a black hole twirling at the back of my head
my brain caving in as white dwarf energy flows through my body
shooting celestial come into oblivion

full collapse.

limbs falling now like crumbling greek columns
the parthenon tumbling into the dark abyss
all of history just flashes of light in the darkness

la petite mort:
the fate of the world
decided in the blink of an eye

D E A T H C R E E P S
+ + + + + + + + + + + + +

cycles:
perpetual deathwalk.
the way we condition our bodies and minds,
to exist steps away from falling into the abyss.
rosary baptised in wine,
drinking from the blood
of the earth
every night
once the sun sets

ritual for birth of sacred sound:
--i---i--i------un------om-
no.
harvesting darkness
is a commitment
of holy proportions

like eschli said -
heavy drinking,
we're doing our part.

as you sit on your couch,
gazing into the glow
of the void,
undead.

T H R O N E S
+ + + + + + +

ancient myths of doom launched into space. the infinite sadness that is everywhere. the reflection of blinking red lights
bending on the surface of a drum head sitting in the shadows. the crashing of the waves or the rustle of leaves,
the eternal sorrow that surrounds everything.

L A S T C A L L
+ + + + + + + + +

the gulls are in the streets
squawking under red stop lights
high beams hovering on the homeless
three copcars for one poor bum
around the corner the drunken couple that stumbled out from le voyeur
speak through thick misted tongues stretching their arms out like airplanes
crashing on the pavement

it's time to go home.

O L D H A U N T S
+ + + + + + + + + + +

i walk across bridges at midnight
and sit alone on the sound, shoving ice cold high life down my throat
swinging my legs over the gentle darkness that laps at my feet
as some hidden sphere overhead tugs on string ends
slowly pulling the surface of a black mirrored lake
back and forth, back and forth
a clear sky reflecting
astral sperm
on the VOID

and i can't help but wonder where the Jackets are now
that come with breaking glass and cackling laughter,
as i toss a crushed aluminum can into the silent night

never hearing it hit reality

TO BE OBSESSED WITH NOTHING
+ + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + +

I'm not obsessed with the void.

The void is cheap, it's everywhere.

I'm only aware that it surrounds me. The infinite emptiness that lays untouched beneath everything; the hole in your heart you share with every living breathing human, the will towards death, the shifting sands on untainted beaches,
the stillness of water in the darkness, the eternal graceful sweep of moonlight,

nothing.
